What is a clinical trial:
Clinical trials are research studies that are conducted to determine whether a medical treatment or device is safe and effective for humans. All studies are approved by SAHPRA (South African Health Products Regulatory Authority) and the relevant ethics committees before commencement of a study. Studies are conducted in accordance to ICH-GCP (International Conference on Harmonization-Good Clinical Practice) and SA-GCP (South African-Good Clinical Practice) guidelines.
Why are clinical trials important?
Clinical trials form the basis of a key research tool for advancing and improving medical care. The results of a trial will indicate whether a new approach works well on patients and is safe to use
